Hnst Talk: Weez the Satellite Kiid

by Eric Boston @EricBoston3

There is nothing artificial about him.

Family man, skilled lyricist, and one of the unique voices within the CHH space, the Arizona emcee is hard at work on a new album while connecting with listeners along the way.

While he is selective with his words, Weez the Satellite Kiid is making every one of them count as he continues to develop as both a group member of Artificial Christian and a solo artist as well.

"I'm currently experiencing the Kaleb Mitchell syndrome."

"I've been using my circumstance to create dope tunes and building me as a person. I've been waking up at 5:30, 5:15 and taking my song to daycare. Then I go to work from 6-10 am. After that, it's music, nap, or workout until 3 pm, then work until 7-ish before home to play with my son."

"After he is asleep is when I can maybe go through some texts or ideas, depending on the day. It all definitely adds to the drive and makes for good music."

In 2019, Weez has been making a shift from dropping music as a part of the group Artificial Christian, which he certainly is still involved with, to putting out more content as a solo artist.

"Basically I work in any time slot that I have free."

"How it works is that, instead of Warren dropping an idea and me putting my spin on it, it's mainly me listening to beats and communicating what I feel like God is speaking to me at the time. It's therapy."

"My therapy is another 's healing while teaching my legacy that it's okay to chase your God-given dream."

"I'm introverted, so I internalize a lot. Music can be my outward expression of what was going on internally at a given time. Me being honest and transparent where I'm at and, in turn, speak to the spaces that others may not be able to get to through a hip hop platform. Everybody thinks their pain is special until someone else speaks."

"Real people - need real testimonies - from a real God."

As we are quickly approaching the end of 2019 and heading into 2020, Weez has plans in motion.

"Videos, shows, an album."

"It's kind of like people meeting Weez the Satellite Kiid as a person instead of the Artificial Christian Super Squad. Although Warren really is the next Kanye."

"You see, real G's move in silence. Weez the Satellite Kiid is my superhero name, more spacey, metaphorical, lofty, etc. But Wesley Dewayne is the Clark Kent. He is more of the turn-up alias of mine. Both are me, one is more complex than the other."

"I'm always trying to change things for people's understanding. Then I have moments where I just want to be artsy...so now I can do it. Satellite Kiid is what you hear most times with Artificial Christian. Most times when it's trap, when the beat hit me, it's Wesley Dewayne."

"They both are me. I do lean towards Satellite Kiid because I'd rather just create than worry if people understand my therapy. We are on the same level, except I'm leveled by truth."

Ultimately it comes down to one basic truth for Weez. No matter what he faces as an artist, he knows who truly has value in his life.

"I love my family."
