Cash Hollistah Provides College Scholarship

by Eric Boston @EricBoston3

Kansas rap artist Cash Hollistah presented a $1,000 scholarship on June 15, 2019

This marked the third annual scholarship that bears the rapper's namesake.

The Cash Hollistah Scholarship is given to a graduating senior in central Kansas that shows merit in the field of community enrichment through poetry, music, art, or design. Being an arts educator himself, the Die Daily member is passionate about what this scholarship (which is funded courtesy of Ad Astra Books and Coffee House in Salina, KS) is able to do for its recipients.

"This scholarship has been an incredibly rewarding experience. To be able to discover talented high school kids from my state who excel in their artistic gifts, but who also find ways to use those talents to enrich their communities."

"We give this scholarship as a way of saying, the first year of books is on us!"

This year's scholarship went to Gracie Lott, a high school senior at Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg, KS. She was presented the award by Hollistah and Ad Astra owner Tammy Jarvis during a poetry presentation at the Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina, KS.

Lott had this to say about being awarded the Cash Hollistah Scholarship,

"I am so thankful for this scholarship. There have been a lot of local artists who have engrained in me that mixing your art and your community is so important and that's exactly what this scholarship does."

Lott is planning on attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ this fall. She will be majoring in graphic design.
